Altair Vineyards Altair 2003
The wine presents great color, heaps of fresh fruit, long elegant tannins and a superb concentration. Wine Enthusiast Terrific Chilean red wine; seductive and succulent, with a beautiful burgundy hue matched by pure, ripe Bordeaux-like flavors. Deep and satisfying, and smooth as silk. If ever a Chilean red ranked as world class, this is it. Score: 94. —Michael Schachner, November 01, 2005.Wine Advocate The first wine of the estate, Altair, is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2003 Altair is dark ruby with an excellent perfume of pain grille, spice box, red currants and black currants. This is followed by a supple wine with light tannins made in an elegant style. The flavors are ripe and the oak, tannin, and acidity are well-integrated. Give this Bordeaux look-alike 2-3 years of bottle aging and drink it through 2025. Score: 93. —Jay Miller, June 2007. |
