Bodegas Arrocal Arrocal 2005
Produced from estate grown vines, gravity drives all movements of must/wine to minimize hard tannins. Grapes are hand harvested, destemmed but not crushed, macerated for 10 days in temperature controlled tanks followed by aging in new and 1 year old, 50% French and 50% American oak barrels for 4 months. Bottled without filtration after a gentle egg-white fining. Wine Advocate The 2005 Arrocal is 100% Tempranillo aged 4 months in a mixture of new and used French and American oak. Purple-colored, it offers up fragrant aromas of cedar, spice box, blueberry, and blackberry. Supple-textured, the wine has gobs of sweet fruit, soft tannins, and excellent balance. Drink this outstanding value over the next 3-5 years. Score: 90. —Jay Miller, February 2007.Wine Enthusiast On the verge of heavy, but good in a stocky, straightforward way. Blackberry and chocolate lead, and the body leans toward weighty but doesn’t go entirely heavy. A good, fuller-bodied selection with toast and tannin on the back end. Score: 87. —Michael Schachner, June 01, 2007. |
