A dark and slightly brawny version, yet with concentrated black cherry, blackberry and violet flavors. The structure is dense, with fine-grained tannins. Fresh finish. Sangiovese, Colorino and Canaiolo. Drink now through 2029. 3,000 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.

The 2020 Chianti Classico is endowed with terrific depth and presence. Dark red/purplish fruit, game, incense, iron and tobacco lend quite a bit of nuance. I suppose the 2020 is a bit rough around the edges, but I can look past that given how much complexity is in the glass. This strapping Chianti Classico has a ton to offer.

The Capraia 2020 Chianti Classico, a blend of 90% Sangiovese with Canaiolo and Colorino, is not perfect on the nose, with earthy and leathery sensations that give the wine some heaviness and flatness. It feels like one or more of the varietal components of the blend is a little too ripe. I'd suggest this easy wine (with 40,000 bottles made) for near-term drinking.
