Rodney Strong Symmetry 2013
|Region||California, Sonoma County, Alexander Valley|
This combines all five Bordeaux red varieties into a likable, integrated and smoothened experience on the palate that lingers in bold, concentrated flavors of blackberry and cocoa. A juicy core on the midpalate slides effortlessly into a spicy finish of clove.
Lastly, the 2013 Symmetry is a Bordeaux blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec and 4% Merlot. This is a suave, supple-textured wine with sweeter tannin, more forward personality, and loads of red and black currant fruit as well as some licorice and underbrush. It is a beauty. Medium to full-bodied and very elegant, this wine was aged 16 months in 100% French oak prior to being bottled. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.
Shades toward the tart side of Cabernet, with currant, blackberry and wild berry flavors and dusty oak and loamy earth notes, all supported by lively acidity and firm tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec. Drink now through 2027. 7,837 cases made.
