Take your time with the 2019 Cerasuolo di Vittoria. It sits in the glass and slowly reveals a captivating bouquet of rubbed sage, black currants and crushed stone, all offset by a beguiling hint of grilled pineapple. It's silky and textural while displaying outstanding purity, with tart woodland berries and minerals cascading across a core of vibrant acidity. Energy remains high, even as hints of grippy tannin tug at the cheeks, adding tension and framing the experience nicely. This is a blend of 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Frappato.

A blend of 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Frappato, the Planeta 2019 Cerasuolo di Vittoria is a mid-weight red with a bright and punchy bouquet. The nose is redolent of wild cherry and plum, and there is a hint of red rose. A lean and silky finish culminates with a pretty point of fresh acidity. There are light notes of toasted herb and licorice as well. Some 85,000 bottles were made. This would be nice with a typical Sicilian "melanzane mbuttunate," or eggplant stuffed with caciocavallo cheese.

This lithe, silky red is light- to medium-bodied, with pretty sandalwood and violet accents to the pure cherry and raspberry fruit flavors, followed by hints of loamy earth and light herbs on the finish. Nero d'Avola and Frappato. Drink now through 2024. 6,650 cases made, 1,419 cases imported.
