The 2014 Chianti Rufina Nipozzano Vecchie Viti is savory and also quite dense, to the point it needs a few years in bottle to shed some baby fat and release the subtler notes that are just starting to develop. Dried herbs, mint and licorice add perfumed top notes to a core of Sangiovese fruit. There is a good bit of character in this impeccably balanced red from Castello di Nipozzano.

Red berry, blue flower, tilled soil and a whiff of dark spice take delicate shape on this polished red. The elegant, almost ethereal palate offers wild cherry, strawberry, star anise and dried aromatic herbs framed in bright acidity and refined tannins. Drink 2019-2024.

Tight and beefy, with muscular tannins shoring up cherry, currant, earth and wild herb flavors. A real laser, remaining tense through the finish. Best from 2021 through 2033.
