Hess Collection Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
|Region||California, Napa Valley, Mt. Veeder|
Our 2019 estate-grown Cabernet provides an exemplary expression of the sophistication, complexity, and structure that we've come to expect from our mountain fruit. The Cabernet Sauvignon produces aromas of ripe, wild, mountain raspberry, along with gentle notes of vanilla caramel. The subtle touch of Malbec adds a soft, mouth-filling texture on the palate. Enticing flavors of dark plum, licorice, cocoa and vanilla oak spice unite to create a supple wine that lingers for a pleasing finish.
A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Hess Collection Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder Estate Grown is gently herbal and cedary up front, with deep layers of blueberry, cassis and loam backing up those initial impressions. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, it finishes long, with dusty tannins and a savory touch of black olive.
Shows a toasty overlay, with singed vanilla coating a core of blackberry, black cherry and boysenberry paste flavors. A tug of loam and a cedary frame emerge on the finish. Offers more oomph than purity, with the toasty edge asserting itself through the finish. Best from 2023 through 2034. 6,300 cases made.
